Thanksgiving

Free printable Thanksgiving story for kids

On Thanksgiving morning Grandma Jo sets an empty jar on the table: one thank-you each before pie. Hazel's thank-yous are small, warm rolls, Pepper's tail, Grandpa's laugh, and they fill the jar. A gratitude story with a short grace at the table.

Like every Storyfold book, it prints at home on regular paper in full color, low ink, or as a coloring page edition your kid fills in first. Fold the stack once, two staples on the fold, and it is a real book for the Thanksgiving table or the bedtime shelf. Or read it on your phone tonight.

How a printable Thanksgiving book works

  1. Pick. Choose the color edition for the table or the coloring edition for the kids' end of it.
  2. Print. Any home printer, regular Letter paper. Low ink uses about a third of the ink.
  3. Fold and staple. Fold the stack once, two staples on the fold. Read it before pie.

Giving books this year? Gift a year of bedtime books: 3, 6 or 12 months of Family Reader, paid once, with a printable certificate for the card.

Questions parents ask

Is Hazel's Thank-You Jar really free?
Yes. It is one of the library books you can keep for free with a Storyfold account, in all three editions, no card needed. Or leave your email below and we will send the print links.
What ages is it for?
Ages 3 to 7. It is a short read-aloud with one thank-you per page, so preschoolers follow it and early readers can read the jar slips themselves.
Can we do the thank-you jar at our table?
That is the idea. Read the book together, then set out a jar and a stack of paper slips: everyone writes one thank-you and drops it in before pie, the way Hazel's family does. The coloring edition makes it a whole afternoon.
How do I turn the PDF into a book?
Print on regular Letter paper, double sided if you can. Stack the pages in order, fold the stack once, and put two staples on the fold.
